Cardiac Anesthesia Services
Vancouver General Hospital performs over 800 cardiac cases per year. Areas of expertise include minimally invasive mitral valve surgery, robotic cardiac surgery, and major aortic reconstruction. Most members of the Division of Cardiac Anesthesiology have undertaken subspecialty training and have received additional certification in Transesophageal Echocardiography.
In addition to caring for patients in the operating room, the Division of Cardiac Anesthesiology provides support in the cardiac catheterization labs and is the medical lead in the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit.
Academic endeavors include the support of ongoing research such as the PRO-TECT II study. Members of the Division are actively engaged in the teaching of medical students, residents and fellows.
