Two B.Sc. Pharmacology students have been awarded The Wesbrook Scholarship

The Wesbrook Scholarship, UBC’s most prestigious undergraduate award.

Each year, a total of 20 Westbrook scholarships are awarded to senior undergraduate students (from various faculties, e.g., Science, Arts, Medicine, Applied Science, Education and Law) with outstanding academic performance, leadership, and involvement in student and community activities.

Pharmacology students who won Wesbrook and Premier Undergraduate Scholarships (2015-6):

Farnaz Javadian

Third year Pharmacology student Farnaz Javadian was recently awarded both the Wesbrook and the HSBC Emerging Leader Scholarships. Farnaz has contributed extensively to the UBC community as an ambassador for student leadership and social change. As part of this event, she has raised thousands of dollars for charities such as HOPE International, Covenant House Vancouver and the Reading Bear Society. Farnaz is also a UBC SCI Team student leader, the Vice President Communications of the UBC Women in Science Club and an Orientations Leader. As a provincial medallist in artistic gymnastics, Farnaz is passionate about promoting physical fitness in youth and she currently volunteers as a Gymnastics Canada certified coach for Special Olympics BC. In addition, she has developed a clinical research profile at St. Paul’s Hospital and was awarded a Surgical Quality Action Network summer studentship at BC Children’s Hospital. In her free time, Farnaz enjoys playing the piano and has completed the Grade 9 Royal Conservatory of Music Piano Program with Honours.
