Faculty Bio

I am a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist with an interest in perioperative echocardiography and structural heart disease. I have completed both my medical degree and my anesthesiology residency training at the University of British Columbia. I have attained fellowship training in cardiothoracic anesthesiology and perioperative echocardiography at Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth, Australia. I have completed an additional fellowship in Structural Heart Echocardiography at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. I am board certified by the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE) and currently hold the Diplomate status in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography. I currently practice cardiac anesthesia at St Paul’s hospital in Vancouver, Canada with my scope of practice including open-heart surgeries, structural heart interventions, mechanical support devices and heart transplantation. I play an active role in the field of medical education. Currently, I have a clinical assistant professor appointment with the UBC in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics. I am involved in training and mentoring anesthesia residents and fellows and teaching medical students as a part of the formal academic curriculum as well as providing informal teaching in the operating room.
