Faculty Bio
Dr. Anton Chau is an Anesthesiologist and Physician-Scientist with joint appointments at BC Women’s Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital. After completing his anesthesiology residency at UBC, he pursued a Clinical Fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesia at Brigham and Women’s Hospital under the mentorship of Dr. Lawrence Tsen. He subsequently completed a research fellowship and earned a Master’s in Clinical and Translational Research at Harvard Medical School.
During his seven-year tenure as Fellowship and Research Director at BC Women’s Hospital (2016–2023), Dr. Chau established and led a comprehensive clinical and research curriculum in obstetric anesthesia, fostering academic excellence and innovation.
Currently, Dr. Chau serves as the Competency Chair for the UBC Clinician-Investigator Program, Vice-Chair of the CAS Obstetric Anesthesia Section, Vice-Chair of the CAS Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee and a faculty member of the Society for Obstetric Anesthesiology and Perinatology (SOAP) Research Committee. He is also on the editorial boards for the Anaesthesia Journal and the International Journal of Obstetric Anesthesia.
