Grand rounds in Anesthesia serve as a valuable educational and collaborative platform for healthcare professionals. They primarily aim to enhance clinical knowledge, foster critical thinking, and improve patient care through the presentation and discussion of complex medical cases. Additionally, grand rounds facilitate interdisciplinary communication and promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Anesthesia Grand Rounds are an Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Grand Rounds are held both virtually (by Zoom) and connected to core hospital teaching sites (see site specific information below) to allow learners to attend in person.
BC Children’s Hospital Rounds
About
We invite paediatric anaesthetists from outside hospitals (Victoria, sometimes Kelowna) to join the academic, research & QoC ones, though they rarely do. In February each year, when we host the resident academic days, we try to focus on more academic rounds & may have guest speakers from outside Vancouver. The meeting topics vary – Staff; Quality of Care; Research; Pain Service; Academic.
