The Therapeutics Initiative (TI)’s Portrait education tool graphically displays clinicians’ prescribing and test-ordering patterns, offering personalized feedback in concert with peer- or target-comparisons and evidence-based recommendations. The rigorous development process, innovative design, and thoughtful translation of knowledge empower physicians, NPs, and others to change their practices, improving patient care. Collaborating with other BC-based health organizations, Portrait addresses key health issues like antibiotic overuse and opioid prescriptions. Our approach is backed by evidence on characteristics that make audit and feedback successful, and Portrait itself is part of a randomized controlled trial, demonstrating its effectiveness in enhancing patient care across British Columbia.
